Xanthene-stained nanoparticles for phosphorescence anisotropy measurements

چکیده

Abstract For the measurement of flow-induced microrotations in flows utilizing depolarization phosphorescence anisotropy, suitable luminophores are crucial. The present work examines dyes xanthene family, namely Rhodamine B, Eosin Y and Erythrosine B. Both solution incorporated particles, examined regarding their luminescent lifetimes quantum yield. In an oxygen-rich environment at room temperature, all exhibit sub-microsecond range a low intensity signal, making them for sensing fast rotations with sensitive acquisition systems.

Rotational motions of myosin heads in myofibril studied by phosphorescence anisotropy decay measurements.

We studied the rotational Brownian motions of myosin heads, of which the sulfhydryl group was selectively labeled with the triplet probe 5-eosinylmaleimide, in myofibril by using flash-induced phosphorescence anisotropy decay measurements. The anisotropy decay curve under relaxing conditions consisted of a fast (submicrosecond) and a slow (a few microseconds) component and a small constant part...

Airborne Measurements of Surface Anisotropy

Surface spectral bidirectional reflectance is a major parameter of interest to the biospheric sciences, remote sensing, and global change communities. For example, the pronounced reflectance peak at the back scattering range of vegetated surfaces, known as the “hot spot” or “opposition surge” (cf. Hapke 1993), is found to be closely related to the state of several biophysical and physical param...

Phosphorescence decay time measurements using intensity correlation spectroscopy.

In this paper, we report on phosphorescence measurements for oxygen dynamics in cells by means of a correlation method, which is an expansion of the fluorescence correlation spectroscopy. The intensity correlation function of the emission excited by a pulsed light source was measured. With changing the pulse timing, both the fluorescence correlation function and the decay time of phosphorescenc...

Anisotropy Measurements of the Cosmic Microwave Background

The cosmic microwave background (CMB) is one of only a few physically observable remnants of the early Universe. Studies of the spectrum, polarization and spatial distribution of the CMB can potentially lead to a detailed understanding of the processes that took place in the early Universe. Many of the outstanding cosmological questions regarding the age, contents, future, and large scale dynam...

Highly sensitive frequency metrology for optical anisotropy measurements.

In this paper we present a novel apparatus aimed at measuring very small birefringences and anisotropies and based on frequency metrology and not on polarimetry as usual. In our experiment, a very high finesse resonant cavity is used to convert the phase difference into a resonance frequency difference, which can then be measured with very high accuracy. We describe the setup and present the re...
